Skin Irritations

Jewelweed Poison Ivey and Oak Remedy

2 cups jewelweed stems and leaves

4 cups water.

Add the jewelweed stems and leave to the water.  Bring to a boil.  Remove form heat, cover, and let steep for 10 minutes.  Strain.  When cool, apply this tea to the poison-ivy or poison-oak rash and other affected areas.

This is the best “cure” for poison ivy or poison oak.  Jewelweed often grows near the offending poison-ivy and poison-oak vines.

Sassafras Root Bath

Sassafras roots

Water

Sassafras roots can ease suffering from a poison-ivy rash.  Use clean roots, added to a small pot of water, to make a strong tea.  Bring the water and roots to a boil and reduce the heat to simmer.  Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.  Strain.  Add the strong tea to your bathwater.  Soak in the bath for 20 minutes.
